About the Event
You are cordially invited to the home of Charles Hobson and Azra Bihorac for an afternoon of friends, food and music. We would like to share the good work the Greater Gainesville International Center (GGIC) has been doing over the past year, as well as the vision we have laid out for our organization in 2024!
The Greater Gainesville International Center’s roots go back to 1982, with the beginnings of Gainesville’s Sister City Program. In late 2022, former Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe took the helm and has worked tirelessly with the GGIC board to reimagine the organization as one that will serve as a hub for supporting our international community and promoting Gainesville to the world as a global city.
Our Mission
To elevate, celebrate and empower our international community through cultural and educational exchange, economic empowerment and direct support for our newest neighbors.
We can only achieve our mission with the help of our community, including you! So please join us to learn more about who we are and how we plan on making Greater Gainesville a global city, welcoming to all and committed to celebrating, elevating and empowering our international community! You will learn more about our educational exchanges, cultural celebrations, refugee resettlement with affiliate partner International Rescue Committee, economic empowerment programs, and so much more. But don’t worry, you will also meet new friends, hear some amazing music from the Gainesville String Quartet, and have some delicious food from around the world  - all for a great cause.
